Celebrate the courage before the choreography.
Learning a new skill can feel big. A dancer who watches quietly on the first day may be doing something brave simply by stepping into the room. Give that adjustment time.
After class, try asking “What did you enjoy?” or “What would you like to try again?” These questions make space for curiosity without turning every lesson into a performance review.
Keep practice light and inviting. Put on a favorite song, make room to move safely, and let your dancer show you something they discovered. Confidence grows when movement feels like something they own.
The next milestone might be remembering a step. It might also be asking for help, making a friend, or walking into class with a little less hesitation. All of it counts.
